Cocktail Sculpture, 2008

Glass, destilled water, paraffin oil, wooden pedestal

The glass is filled with two liquids. Because these two, distilled water and paraffin oil, have different densities, they refract light differently. Both liquids are transparent and colorless except for the very light greenish tint created by the thick glass. As one moves around the work, one can see sections of a rainbow colored circle that appears to be created by the reflection of light as it bounces between the surfaces of the liquids and the container's glass.

Steel

A long beam of raw polished steel, mirrored on one side. The artist tilts the extreme, utilitarian, blind object in the light, engendering an effect of liquefaction and shimmering metal.

Echovrije kamer / Chambre anéchoïque / Anechoic room, 2009

The anechoic room is an experimental space whose internal surfaces are entirely covered with absorbent acoustic materials. Perfectly insulated from the outside, it captures every internal noise, so that the initial silence is very quickly replaced by the sounds emitted by visitors.
