Bad Language (The iconography and abstraction of the tone explored), 2015

Acrylic paint on canvas, vinyl

Painting with designs constructed from various graphic decals found on caravans. The designs continue from the canvases onto the wall.

Three works from the series

And the sound of them falling was four-dimensional – Compositional Study, 2016

Marble resin, fumed white oak

Linen dinner napkins have been cast in marble and placed upon modernist wooden plinths made from fumed oak.

I is... (vi), 2013

I is... (v), 2013

Both works: marble resin

The sculptures are based on shelters ostensibly built by the artist's small daughter by covering mundane objects and furnishings with sheets to create a play den and/or fantasy space.

Imagineering, 2013

The cold was as three-dimensional as the studio, 2015

A Lamp Made By The Artist For His Wife (Sixtieth Attempt), 2015
Sooden dinghy oar, 20l jerry can, 5l detergent container, wooden shape (function unknown), crystal glass decoration and various electrical components

Each one of Gander's lamps is assembled from elements that can appear entirely unsuitable for this function but cohere in unexpected ways to create touching sculptures that are functional lamps.

Two-Way Associative Sequel #27 (Thematic Or No Thematic A Pattern Shall Emerge), 2015
Digital C-Prints
The work is part of an ongoing series of Associative Templates, which explore the links between disparate elements and invite the viewer to bring the improbable together in imaginary dialogues.

A Lamp Made By The Artist For His Wife (Sixty Third Attempt), 2015

Mechanic’s inspection lamp, house brick, bungee cables, tennis ball, electrical cable, bulb, electrical fixtures and fittings

The notion of the homemade doubles as lyrical evocations of the power of imagination and as playful interrogation of what may constitute a work of art.
