Simon Fujiwara's Hello Who? introduces the central themes of the artist's Who the Bær project. The work consists of a stop-motion animation screened on a monitor encased in a wall-mounted sculpture made of foam-core, MDF and cardboard. Created in a process of stop-motion—placing the cut-out elements from one frame to the next to create the illusion of movement—the short video recalls early film animation, yet also addresses topical issues relating to the contemporary digital media. The screen is set in a heart-shaped sculptural setting that echoes the opening of the animation: Who emerging from the opening halves of a yellow heart. In addition, the large heart shape pinned to Who's chest is a recurrent motif of the figure.
