Simon Fujiwara Who’s Iconic? (Patriarchal Saint), 2022
Acrylic, charcoal, pastel, acetate and inkjet print collage on canvas
190,2 x 90,1 x 2,5 cm (unframed)
220 x 118 x 5 cm (framed)
Simon Fujiwara’s collage on canvas draws on Sandro Boticelli’s Renaissance portrait of the Christian saint Sebastian. Who the Bær has been playfully sanctified in this work by taking on the role of a suffering Christian saint. A halo floats above Who’s head as they bear a pained expression. Their large pink tongue is visible in the foreground and spews yellow liquid all over the composition.
