Kallmorgen (Kaispeicher) takes as a point of departure the 1963 Kaispeicher A by the German architect Werner Kallmorgen. The structure took the place of a destroyed historical building at a prominent location in the Hamburg Harbor. With the advent of freight containers and the subsequent decrease in need for permanent storage, the building lost its function. The artist acts as archeologist of often forgotten or neglected buildings, recreating their distinctive shapes both from her study and from her vivid re-imagining of the forms and the spirit of the structures.
