The work resembles a column-shaped cactus. The artistic reference to organic forms is complemented by the title Hochhaus (Ger. high-rise), suggesting that the work could be an architecture model or a representation of a building. The sculptural series are inspired by Metabolism, a Japanese architecture style of ’60s and ’70s. Metabolist architects were aiming to appropriate not only the forms of nature, but biological and chemical processes as well, suggesting growing and recessing buildings, some of them made of cellular units.
