Ari Benjamin Meyers
Solo for Ayumi (diary)
2017
Handwritten score on paper, diary
70 x 97 x 6 cm (framed)
The work consists of a diary—whose cover presents the image of a brick wall with the graffiti-like inscription “Tokyo” and the name Ayumi stamped underneath it. A rubber band insures the privacy of its content, while documents and photographs stick out of its inside pages. The diary is paired with a typed letter that has been partially covered with a hand-written score. The work belongs to Ari Benjamin Meyers' series of twelve diptychs conceived on the occasion of his 2017 solo exhibition Solo for Ayumi.
