The series Fabrication depicts places of production such as workshops, both industrial and artisanal, and foundries. In this case, the works being produced are by Arie Van Selm at the well-known fine arts foundry of Herman Noack which has existed in Berlin since 1897. Andrew Grassie’s paintings are based on photographs the artist has taken himself or in some cases found. Often they have been elaborately staged, although this effort is veiled by the ostensibly unassuming matter-of-factness the small, precisely painted works exude.
