Requirements:
- At least 5 years of employment in a comparable or similar field, preferably in an internationally operating gallery, where a deep understanding of the international art market could be gained.
- Broad and in-depth knowledge of art history as well as of recent developments in contemporary art and the art market
- Should have completed direct sales him/herself and be able to provide examples to support this. Bringing your own client base, as well as trade show experience is desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential in English and German, and other languages a plus
- Accurate organizational skills for the implementation of own projects
- Ability to perform under pressure, high flexibility and availability to travel
The main areas of responsibility encompass the following:
Sales
- Taking care of existing clients (national and international)
- Ensuring professional communication with clients e.g. for Christmas Sendout, Invoice Packages, sold works, installation
- Attending high profile networking events, entertaining clients outside of usual Gallery hours and travelling where necessary to enhance client development
- Driving sales for Gallery artists on the primary market
- Building new client relationships
- Answering sales inquiries of all kinds (online, by phone, in person)
- Generating sales before and during art fairs
- Representing the gallery at various external and internal events such as exhibition openings, gallery dinners, book presentations
- Monitoring the international art market and the market of gallery artists
Sales Support
- Monitoring of the digital sales platforms (Artsy, Artnet, Ocula, Webpage) in cooperation with the Sales Directors
- Writing comprehensive offer letters for management and directors
Project Management
- Management of different projects such as art fairs, pop-up exhibitions in close collaboration with the back-office team directors and management,
- Responsible for budget and accounting of respective projects incl. profit-loss calculation
- Booth planning and art fair preparations in collaboration with fair manager and general management
Team Structure
- Supervision and support of the Gallery Assistants and Sales Consultant in their daily tasks, providing guidance, monitoring their performance and ensuring team is informed about the gallery’s workflows and guidelines
Database (Artlogic)
- Updating existing contacts and entering new contacts with Frontdesk Team
- Customer research before fairs
- Create specific target groups and marketing lists
