Edition of 6 plus 2 artist's proofs
The work consists of two black and white photographs installed across a corner or facing each other in a narrow space. The images, taken in the Mata Atlántica, depict the same view of dense tropical foliage but as the settings of the lens for each photograph, in one image a large spider in her net can be seen in the foreground, while in the other the focus is on the leaves behind the net (which is no longer visible). As the viewers approach the photographs, they may belatedly recognize being caught in the spider’s net.
The title plays on the double reference to the common fear of spiders and to the ecological dangers facing the inhabitants of the Mata Atlántica region.
The work is sold unframed.
