In a lit stainless-steel vitrine, Gabriel Kuri houses an assortment of scratch cards and eggs. Arranged in a loose grid, some of the colorful cards are paired with eggs, adding an organic element. The configuration of the objects in the vitrine suggests an oblique message, reminiscent of an illuminated board with announcements or a display of enigmatic trophies.
The cards have been left untouched thus their potential value remains undiminished and their true value hidden. Re-imagined as artifacts, the lotto tickets can be understood as reminders of human striving for financial gain and the pursuit of happiness or luck. As scratching the tickets will invalidate the art work, the artist also suggests a choice.
