Etienne Chambaud ∩ (Lion), 2018
The work combines a found, subtly altered postcard that is framed using the glass on which the colors for this alteration were assembled. The inside of the protective glass was used as a palette to mix acrylic paints and obtain the right color for minimal modifications on the postcards: painting eyelids to close the animals’ eyes.
The single postcards, most of which were published by a zoo or a natural reserve, show animals, often on their own and sometimes in couples or small groups. The title refers to a mathematical symbol—the cap—denoting the intersection of sets.
