Etienne Chambaud Non Finito, 2025
The work is from a series of unique wall-based aluminum reliefs, entitled Non Finito, that are created through a process of destructive casting. Each work begins as an assemblage of organic fragments, synthetic debris, and industrial remains—compressed, burned, and cast in molten metal. The result is a fused, eroded surface: a material snapshot of composition and decomposition. Each piece bears a terse subtitle, evoking the elements that once composed it. The project engages traditions of collage—material, linguistic, and conceptual—and extends Etienne Chambaud’s exploration of transformation, entropy, and the shifting thresholds between matter and disappearance, representation and exhibition.
