Rosa Barba Off my Mind, 2025

Rosa Barba's Off My Mind consists of a framed glass box in which a looped strip of celluloid with lettering is spun between two metal spools. Alternating direction, the film is propelled with surprising velocity either into one direction or the other. The film is in near constant movement, accumulating in one corner of the frame or lightly coiling in the lower part of the frame. While the movement of the celluloid strip evokes the way the film is projected, here the material has taken a different form, creating what Barba has called a "cinematic paintings."
