Rosa Barba Weavers - Phonetic Similarities, 2026
Rosa Barba's Weavers - Phonetic Similarities is made from 16 mm film and glass panels: around nails fixed in a walnut frame, strips of film are looped, creating a pattern of vertical lines. In between this regular rhythm, differently colored glass panels are placed. Each Weaver is unique.
The glass used in the work, highlights Rosa Barba‘s interest in astronomy, as well as her engagement within the medium of film through a sculptural approach. Indeed, these glass color filters are traditionally used for both the observation of celestial bodies and the making of films.
