Buckner’s work titled Untitled (Couple) is a small-format oil on linen portrait depicting a female and male figure on a beach. She primarily used different sandy brown-tones and blues for their swimwear. The couple is depicted in an idyllic position with the man unfolding a book above the woman who seems to sketch or write something. Portraits of couples in different settings are a recurrent theme in Buckner’s oeuvre.
