Sojourner Truth Parsons Morning, 2026
Previously, the artist collaged painted canvas and linen, in this work, she cultivates a haptic aesthetic by “collaging with paint”. This technique allows her to work without cutting; instead, she works in layers and maintains the ground as a whole. Cover, containment, and “edgeness” establish the pressure points in Parsons’s formal grammar, opening spaces of rupture – “a color next to a texture next to a flatness”.
