Rafa Silvares Pole, 2025
Executed in oil, acrylic and modelling paste on linen, the large scale work depicts a can in vivid red, fixed inside a hydraulic press, giving in to the exerted pressure. The painting's color palette references Piet Mondrians iconic theme embracing a single shade of red, yellow, and blue.
While time seems to stand still in this composition, format and motif are suggestive of short clips circulating on social media, showing different objects crushed inside a hydraulic press sequentially, leaving nothing, finally, but a strange satisfaction.
