Camille Henrot Dos and Don'ts - 28 Days, 2023

Camille Henrot’s Dos and Don’ts is an ongoing series of paintings begun in 2021. The works combine painting, collage, digital printing and, in some cases, three-dimensional printed elements. Henrot developed the series after encountering etiquette books while sorting through her mother’s belongings during the early months of the pandemic. The etiquette books provide fragments of text and imagery for the paintings. Henrot combines these materials with family photographs, screenshots, computer error messages, medical documents, playlists and other images drawn from everyday life. The titles reproduce or adapt phrases from the etiquette literature.
