8 Ball belongs to Angela Bulloch's Rules Series, an ongoing conceptual project, which the artist began in 1993.
8 Ball work employs the rules of 8-ball game, a pool (pocket billiards) game popular in much of the world, and the subject of international professional and amateur competition. Played on a pool table with six pockets, the game is so universally known in some countries that beginners are often unaware of other pool games and believe the word "pool" itself refers to eight-ball.
The work is conceptual and has no pre-defined form. The owner has the right to execute and reproduce the work in any desired form, medium or size, and the execution of the work can be undertaken independently of the artist. The purchaser will receive an A4 sheet of paper with the printed set of rules, and a certificate of authenticity.
