Removing its functionality from an object by executing its literal function is the point of departure for Slinky: the classic toy made from coiled wire-creating a spiral-is posed on a plinth that exactly resembles its "natural" expanse. In its natural physical shape, the toy cannot do what it is supposed to do-once the possibility of momentum is removed the spiral is no longer the toy of its title. It is at the end of its journey, having arrived at its "natural" conclusion.
