Ann Veronica Janssens frisson bleu, frisson rose, 2022
This diptych is from a new series by Ann Veronica Janssens. It consists of two square glass panels made of hammered glass laminated with dichroic PVC film and float glass. The iridescence is created by the dichroic PVC film between the sheets of glass. Dichroic filters allow light to pass selectively and limit its reflections to a particular small range of colors. While the foil creates a dominance of two colors, the iridescent effect creates a wider spectrum. As one moves around the work, each hammered section of the glass reflects the light at different angles, creating variant shapes and colors. Behind the work the light creates a colored shadow.
