Ann Veronica Janssens' Disque Bleu explores reflectivity. The luminous blue disc has a lightly altered reflective surface. The spectator's surprise at not encountering their reflection highlights a scientific phenomenon or physical property of light—its ability to bend, to refract, to remain encased within a prism-like volume. The familiar forms of a cymbal is modified by the artist's subtle intervention.
