Karin Sander Glass Drop 28, 2023

This work belongs to a series made of liquid glass solidified into drop-shaped offshoots. Multiple layers were cast on top of each other, and, according to their specific consistency and viscosity, each of them obtained its unique shape. In some examples from this series of works, the glass was poured over the edge of a table, flowing down while it solidified in contact with air. In other cases, Karin Sander folded layers of high-temperature glass, imprisoning the still fluid material inside half-congealed glass. These cooled-down glass sculptures of solidified liquids are reminiscent of both lava and ice.
