Julia Scher I'll Uncover, 2024
Made from rose-colored marble, Julia Scher's works are reminiscent of vases or undetermined vessels. Vaguely suggesting a possible function, the works have a number of personal associations, unusual in the oeuvre of the artist. Scher conceived of them in the wake of the death of a friend and deliberately plays on the association with an urn, one colored in flesh-colored tone that itself plays on the color of the inside of the human body, while also reaching back to a memory of a Chinese vase she received from her grandmother.
