Roman Ondak Strayed Sputnik, 2012
A turquoise semi-sphere with four protruding rods is installed on a concrete pedestal. The miniature was made by friends of the artist and refers to the installation Enter the orbit. It is a miniature of Sputnik, the famous Russian satellite. The work was exhibited as part of an installation that included 96 miniature models of the satellite, all made by the artists' friends. Their number refers to the number of minutes the real satellite Sputnik 1 took to complete one orbit of the earth. This work Strayed Sputnik, as the title suggests, is one of the satellites which lost its way and left the orbit.
