Angela Bulloch Audio Visual Mineral, 2021

A digital animation, Audio Visual Mineral mirrors Angela Bulloch's physical exhibition entitled Animal Vegetalbe MIneral at Esther Schipper. The animation depicts each of the works and adds several other elements that appear to float through the space or, in the case of a cat avatar, walk among the works. Another element floating through the space in the animation are a dodecahedrons with fragments of a texture map of a human figure mapped across the shape. Known as Klara, the figure has recurred in Bulloch's recent work. Another motif is based on Bulloch's multiple Melancholyflower from 2017, a resin cast of a long-stemmed head of cauliflower in a distinct orange, melon color.

The video alludes to the distinction, increasingly relevant, between in-real-life and virtual experiences, between the perception of an embodied presence and its virtual equivalent.

– The installation requires a specialized AV company.
