Introduction

Sarah's paintings are defined by surreal undertones. The characters come to life in an in-between space and emerge through the imagination of painter and viewer alike. The artist's intuitive approach to the medium and her palette evoke a misty feeling of memory, thus inviting the viewer into deep atmospheric worlds, mysterious and enchanting altogether.

The painting's origin is characterized by spontaneity, chance playing a crucial role in the development of the compositions. Female figures are a recurring motif in the artist's practice. Often in pastoral settings or engaged in enigmatic activities, at times in skin-colored ballet leotards or nude. Her hybrid spaces invite the viewer to discover details such as a button or a bonnet, mysterious inscriptions, or a cat jumping out of the picture.

The exhibition is curated by Amelie von Wedel and Pernilla Holmes of Wedel Art.
