Introduction

Manchester International Festival (MIF) 2023 takes place June 29 – July 16, 2023. Since 2007 the festival has invited some of the greatest artists on the planet to delight and often challenge crowds in spaces of all shapes and sizes – from car parks to concert halls. They have crossed boundaries, leapt over them, broken through them. This year both Ryan Gander and Tino Sehgal have contributed new works.

Ryan Gander presents The Find, a kind of treasure hunt around the city of Manchester where a series of three coins shows a version of heads and tails. Watch Gander talk with MIF about the project here, and read an in-depth interview with The Guardian here

Tino Sehgal presents new work entitled This entry, which premieres at the National Football Museum and The Whitworth as part of MIF23

On June 29, 7pm, Sehgal will be in conversation with Spanish international footballer Juan Mata, discusing all things art and football in a talk hosted by Hans Ulrich Obrist. Tickets are available here for both in-person and live-stream viewing.

Tino Sehgal's work This entry will be presented successively at two venues:

The National Football Museum, Cathedral Gardens, Manchester, June 29 – July 5
The Whitworth, Oxford Road, Manchester, July 7 – 9, and July 11 – 16.

Both venues are open 10am–5pm
Except for these extended hours:
On June 29 The National Football Museum opens at 2pm.
On July 13 The Whitworth is open 10am–9pm.
