Introduction
The exhibition takes a look at the self-image and perception of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender and intersex people throughout the centuries. In particular, it shows how the 1969 riots on Christopher Street in New York marked a turning point in their visibility. These riots marked the beginning of a comprehensive struggle for emancipation and led to growing self-confidence worldwide.
