The Bayerische Staatsoper is sending a clear message on the occasion of the 150th Munich Opera Festival (Münchner Opernfestspiele): the impressive rainbow installation dreams and dramas from 2001 by Ugo Rondinone is now shining brightly on the roof of the National Theatre.

The glowing rainbow, a recurring motif in Rondinone's work, combines this year's festival theme, “Myth,” with modern symbolism. In many cultures, the rainbow is considered a mythical bridge between heaven and earth, hope and transformation. At the same time, it is also a global contemporary symbol of diversity, tolerance, and the LGBTIQ+ community.
