The Crawler is a new series created for Philippe Parreno’s solo exhibition at Haus der Kunst. The moving object travelling on a vertical straight track is inspired by one of the first robots designed and built by neuroscientist W. Grey Walter to study the brain’s electrical activity. The object carries its own engine and brain system. The mechanical parts are covered by a glass shell inspired by the shell of a turtle and the work of Italian architect and designer Gae Aulenti who designed the Musée d’Orsay.
