Lee Jinju’s Events, Not Things reaches beyond the reproduction of objects in chronological order. Rather than presenting a unified scene, the canvas works as a folding screen, displaying seemingly unrelated objects juxtaposed against each other: the stem of a weed, a withered leaf, a burnt sheet of paper, a hand with a thread tied to a finger, and a rock tied up with a string.
