Introduction

The KiCo Foundation was established in 2009 by the husband-and-wife collectors couple Hans-Gerd Riemer and Doris Keller-Riemer who began collecting young contemporary art about 20 years ago. Right from the beginning, it was important for them to cooperate with public museums. As a result, they have been working closely and continuously with the Kunstmuseum Bonn since 1995, their cooperation with the Lenbachhaus München beginning a little later. The selection of the artworks and the decision to buy them is always made in direct contact between the collectors and the directors of the Kunstmuseum Bonn and the Lenbachhaus. When acquiring new works, a special focus is put on how well the works complement the two museums' collections.

It is for the first time that the Kunstmuseum Bonn and the Lenbachhaus offer the opportunity to get to know this internationally important collection in form of two exhibitions, titled MENTALES GELB. SONNENHÖCHSTSTAND.
