Introduction

Kunsthalle Helsinki opens its autumn season with everyone gets lighter, the Finnish solo debut of Ugo Rondinone. The exhibition is organized in conjunction with the Helsinki Festival.

Borrowing its title from Rondinone's iconic 2004 rainbow textual sculpture fixed to the façade of the building, the exhibition brings together the artist's meditative installation of sculpted clowns in passive poses, vocabulary of solitude, 2014, rainbow paintings, as well as your age and my age and the age of the rainbow: a space lined floor to ceiling with children’s drawings of rainbows made by a thousand Finnish schoolchildren. Launched in 2014, the project has unfolded as part of exhibitions in various museums including the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam and the Rockbund Art Museum in Shanghai.
