Introduction

Expansive architectural installations and a multitude of artistic forms of expression are typical for artist and writer Liam Gillick. His work has been greatly influenced by the music of New Order, the legendary Manchester band , which continues to create “new levels of intensity and control based on a constant testing of fundamental structures”.

In a year-long collaboration with Liam Gillick and composer Joe Duddell, New Order deconstructed, rethought and rebuilt their back catalogue (including the Joy Division days) to place their music in a totally new context. A 12-piece synthesizer orchestra from Royal Northern College of Music, conducted by Duddell, and Gillick’s stunning projections that react to the music during the concert join the band in an exhilarating artistic reinvention.
