Simon Fujiwara Foundation, 2016
The Happy Museum is Simon Fujiwara's quasi-anthropological museum display that tells a unique version of contemporary European history through a series of objects and artifacts collected by the artist. Based on scientific data generated by the artist’s brother Daniel Fujiwara, a renowned "Happiness Economist" who specializes in the measurement of wellbeing, the artist's selection of readymades paints a portrait of a Europe, and of a Germany, on the brink of a new era - seeking an identity somewhere between its progressive values and an increasing nostalgia for the past.
