Simon Fujiwara Study for Studio Who? (Goldfish), 2025

Simon Fujiwara’s work is a fully realized study in reference to a larger three-part composition that depicts an artist studio and positions itself within the historical lineage of artist studios as a subject in art history, invoking precedents such as Gustave Courbet’s The Painter’s Studio, 1855, Pablo Picasso’s and Henri Matisse’s studio interiors, and other self-reflexive depictions of artistic practice.
