This large-scale work by Karolina Jabłońska is executed in oil on canvas. The work depicts a pantry shelf in three horizontal registers. Against warm ocher wood, jars and bottles stand in a loose grid: berries in deep magenta liquid, apricots, upright green asparagus, dill cucumbers, and pale pears. Among them, two eyes look out from the uppermost jar, a coil of dark hair fills a bottle at center, and a small ear appears among the pears below. Each vessel is painted with the stillness of a Cézanne-like portrait of things, an order the human fragments quietly interrupt.
