Karolina Jabłońska Apples Lying on the Table, 2026
Executed in oil on canvas, this large-scale work depicts a cluster of apples, each painted at a monumental scale. Five whole apples and two cut wedges are arranged on a pale, cloth-covered surface. Each apple bears traces of age, such as dark specks, bruising, and large areas where the skin has turned brown. Ripeness and spoilage coexist within the same composition, rendered with the deliberate stillness characteristic of a Cézanne-like portrait of things.
