Two vintage-style red rotary telephones are arranged diagonally on the floor. The curved handsets have been exchanged: the handset belonging to one telephone rests on the body of the other, while the second telephone’s handset is placed on the body of the first. The red coiled telephone cords loop around the composition, creating a sense of visual and functional interdependence between the two objects, highlighting the distinctly sculptural character.

Operating between art, cinema, architecture, and literature, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster’s practice explores the possibility of physical and mental travel through space and time. Her installations place viewers in fictional scenarios shaped by desires, utopias, fears, and dreams, while also engaging with science fiction, dystopian imaginaries, and current political concerns. Across her work, space becomes a psychological and emotional medium through which memory, reality, and fiction intersect.
