A collective production of imagination between two types of intelligences, human and artificial. A set of private ideas and memories, were given as images or descriptions to be imagined by a subject. As the person imagined these components, the brain activity is captured by an fMRI scanner and a deep neural network attempted to reconstruct these ‘mental images’. The visual representations of human thoughts are presented as raw material, chimeras made from millions of unchosen images.
Once exhibited, the sequences of ‘mental images’ as well as new image reconstructions generated in real-time, are endlessly modified by an awareness of the conditions in which they find themselves in.
