The Daughter of a Taoist
The Daughter of a Taoist is based on Esther Schipper's childhood. Born and brought up in Taiwan, she left at the age of seven. As starting material (clues again!): around 20 photos taken from the family archives. This particular piece superimposed two experiences, hers (through the pictures) and my own research (through finding objects, paper, text...) in different Chinatowns, by reading books...to reconstruct a story influenced by the color red.
