Eusung Lee Ivy, 2025
In IVY, Lee develops the motifs first explored in Vita-More Note (2020), a wood-carved relief later fragmented and recast into wall pieces. Here, the motif of the “wheel” is embedded, articulating latent impulses and potential energies inherent to objects and bodies. Fragmented texts and memo-like images pose open-ended questions regarding humanity’s sensory preoccupation with the physical body.
The ivy plant—climbing over everything in its path, entwining and interlacing as it grows—serves as a metaphor for horizontality and wild proliferation. What was once delicately carved in wood, soft and intimate to the touch, has now been transmuted into a metallic surface, conveying a sharper, more resolute sensibility.
